These photographs of cities in the United States were executed from the windows of commercial airplanes; sometimes I snapped the shot during the brief time that the plane flew quickly above the city. They reveal the majesty of American cities, especially the wide spectrum of individual skyscrapers that characterize each city and their unique layouts. They excite my pride in American ingenuity.
These Exhibition Photographs attempt to spark the viewers’ interest because they drive the viewer to connect to the subject. Many of these Exhibition Photographs have been juried into regional and national exhibitions and some received individual awards. The story each tells encapsulates all photographic concepts, including design, lighting, human interest, nature and humor.
Situated on the Ohio River adjacent to Kentucky and Ohio, Huntington, the second largest city in West Virginia, contains many beautiful areas. From the moment we moved to Huntington more than 40 years ago, I was enamored by the photographic opportunities and I attempted to capture the city’s beauty in my photographs. I almost always carried a pocket camera with me, even before cellphones, because when I traveled around the city from my office to hospitals or from home to the parks, theaters and shops, I discovered dazzling photographic opportunities, and I still do.
